Posted
By: E&P Staff Quickcut, Ventura, Calif., released the latest version of its workflow software for preparing and delivering advertising job files for predictable print production.

In development and beta testing for almost two years, QuickPrint 5 complies with industry standards, is available for Windows and Macintosh, and works with Adobe InDesign Creative Suite 2 and QuarkXPress.

QuickPrint 5 enables advertisers to quickly create, color manage, validate and deliver properly prepared files according to the specifications of publishing and print destinations worldwide.

Publishers and printers can use QuickPrint 5 to check incoming PDF files, created in any application, against their exact specifications by simple drag-and-drop or as part of an automated Quickcut workflow.

New in QuickPrint: file validation using almost 300 checks against Quickcut's global specifications database (two-thirds PDF parameters, one-third mechanical, other destination specs); intuitive file-fault and warning organization; automatic optimization according to user-defined requirements or to comply with industry standards; built-in Adobe Distiller to create PDFs on the fly; integrated Adobe Color Engine for comprehensive color management; workflow flexibility (work in RGB, minimize float, prevent JPEG compression, control transparency effects, enforce PDF/X use, set up source profiles and color-management settings, automatic conversion to destination specifications); grouping of "compatible" destinations to minimize the number of layout combinations and files sent, while ensuring that files meet senders' and destinations' requirements;

QuickPrint 5 also works with other Quickcut software, to provide an end-to end solution from one supplier. PageStore automates artwork delivery to one or many print destinations with one connection while managing publisher/printer locations, copy instructions, encryption and security. Q-Automate advanced workflow management enables users to automate manual processes. Quickcut ICC incorporates industry-standard profiling in a Quickcut workflow for soft and hardcopy proofing.
