By: E&P Staff Miami-based Quipp Systems is introducing the compact and height-adjustable LBX-News bundle-strapping machine, designed for simplicity, easy operation and maintenance, and jam-resistant reliability in production of tight, square newspaper bundles.
The new machine's strapping head uses no belts, clutches, pulleys or chains in processing 45 bundles per minute. Mounted on locking casters and relying on fewer moving parts, the lubrication-free LBX-News features automatic cut-off and refeeding (ejects misfed strap), loading, and low-strap tension, no adjustment to strap path and strapping head feed, and easy access to the entire strap path.
Quipp says the device handles all inserted, ROP and mailed products with bundle stops, soft belt compression, side conditioning and packaging sensing. It runs Newspack 1Y polypropylene-based strapping (5mm, 30,000 feet, 24 coils per pallet), with tension set as low as two pounds to prevent bundle rounding.
