By: E&P Staff Quipp Inc. of Miami reported recent stacker orders from the Portsmouth (N.H.) Herald; Indiana's Merrillville Post-Tribune and Lafayette Journal and Courier; The Ann Arbor (Mich.) News (two stackers); and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (four stackers).
The Leader Post of Regina, Saskatchewan, and The Free Lance-Star of Fredericksburg, Va., each ordered a Model 500C stacker with bundle compression and stream squeeze roller. The Honolulu Advertiser bought four Model 501 Stackers and four Viper 3/4 bottomwrappers, while The Buffalo (N.Y.) News bought two Model 501s with floor conveyors. Eleven 501c machines with bundle compression and stream squeeze rollers went into the Toronto Star's Woodbridge, Ontario plant.
Quipp also sold The Grand Haven (Mich.) Tribune a
Twin-Trak conveyor system, and the Danville (Va.) Register & Bee a Viper 3/4 bottomwrapper. Another Viper 3/4 bottomwrapper, with high-resolution inkjet printing capability and a floor distribution system, went into the Halifax (Nova Scotia) Herald.
Quipp's Automatic Palletizer System with self diagnostics was installed at Denver's Rocky Mountain News, The Washington Post's Springfield plant, Philadelphia Newspapers Inc. and The Oregonian, Portland. The Quipp APS can handle large daily ROP runs and Sunday insert packages or collated products.
