By: E&P Staff Quipp Systems will soon install two Quipp Packman II packaging systems that it sold to The Monitor, Freedom Communications' daily in McAllen, Texas. A third recently sold Packman will be installed in the next few months at The Times, Gannett's daily in Shreveport, La.
Packman II stacks, wraps, prints and straps in one operation.
The Times chose the Packman II to reduce costs, which it expects to do by having fewer people between the stacker and strapper and "being able to run the inserter faster, especially on Sunday advance runs," Project Manager Andy Swanton said in a statement. "On large packages, the maximum capacity of the stacker set the speed the inserter could run," Swanton continued. "The Packman should allow us to run faster."
Quipp also sold matte-top conveyors to C.A Ultimas Noticias/Cadena Capriles, Caracas, Venezuela, and a Model 501 stacker to The Herald-Times, Bloomington, Ind. It is the second Model 501 purchased this year by the Schurz Communications daily.
Series 500 stackers handle a wide range of products, including large products, and feature easy operation and adjustment, accurate counts, little maintenance, bundle quality, and a light curtain for safety.
