Rae Media Buys Continental Sunday Comic Provider

By: E&P Staff Continental Features has been acquired by Rae Media Services of Loganville, Ga.

Continental provides Sunday color comic packages to newspapers in nine southeastern states. Originally founded in 1962 as Atlantic Features by a group of independent newspaper owners, the company reincorporated as Continental in 1974.

The nine states include Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Indiana, and Kentucky.

Rae Media is owned by Rick Rae, who has been the publisher of various newspapers. He began his newspaper career in Canada before moving to the U.S. to take an advertising management position at the Oakland (Mich.) Press.

Rae retired as vice president of Triple Crown Media (formerly Gray Publishing) in 2006 and formed his own consulting company -- one of whose clients has been Continental.
