Ramhoff Appointed VP of Gannett's Midwest Group

By: Richard A. Ramhoff has been appointed president and publisher of the Lansing State Journal and will succeed Leslie J. Hurst, who will serve as president and publisher of The Advertiser in Lafayette, La.

Ramhoff had been president and publisher of the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus in Howell, while Hurst has served as publisher of the Lansing State Journal since August 2005. The appointments were announced Friday by Gannett Co. Inc.

Ramhoff also will become a vice president of Gannett?s Midwest Group.

He will oversee McLean, Va.-based Gannett?s operations in Lansing, including the Lansing State Journal and Lansing Community Newspapers, as well as the Battle Creek Enquirer, the Times Herald of Port Huron and the Press & Argus.

Ramhoff began as a reporter at the Rockford (Ill.) Register Star in 1989 and in 2000 was named director of online services for Gannett Wisconsin Newspapers.

Meanwhile, Rich Perlberg has been named executive editor and general manager at the Press & Argus. Perlberg had served as executive editor of the Press & Argus since 2005, when it was acquired by Gannett.

Perlberg is a 30-year veteran of the newspaper industry and a past president of the Michigan Press Association.
