Reading Eagle Company Files for Bankruptcy Protection

Reading Eagle Company, the family-owned business that has published the Reading Eagle newspaper for more than 150 years, is filing for bankruptcy protection.

The company, which in addition to the newspaper, includes WEEU 830 AM, the weekly South Schuylkill News, Pretzel City Productions and its commercial printing subsidiary REP, announced the decision by its board of directors to employees this afternoon.
