By: E&P Staff Ifra, the international research and service organization for the news publishing industry, announced a record number of participants in the third annual XMA Cross Media Awards.
From 27 countries, 56 publishing houses submitted 66 projects for the competition. The focus this year is on cross-media advertising, with winners in three categories: cross-media campaigns for individual advertising customers, cross-media classified ads, and cross-media communities for special-interest groups that serve as a platform for new advertiser target groups.
"The connection of the print and online channels can now nearly be described as 'traditional,'" Michael Heipel, project leader and jury member for the awards, said in a statement, adding that "many projects go much further and include mobile services, out-of-home media as well as audiovisual elements."
Fourteen jurors from eight countries are now evaluating each project for basic idea, creativity and innovation, success, combined use of print and online, and incorporation of additional channels, such as mobile, out-of-home, events, and radio/tv.
This year's winning projects, which may be viewed on Ifra's Web site (www.ifra.com/xma), will be presented at the Ifra Expo 2008 in Amsterdam, Oct. 27-30.
The awards are sponsored by Adobe Systems and Protec and supported by Atex, Funkinform and Nstein.
