By: E&P Staff John T. O'Loughlin is leaving his post as general manager of the Chicago Tribune's RedEye to become senior vice president, marketing, planning, and development at the Los Angeles Times. He starts Aug. 1.
O'Loughlin, 37, has been with RedEye since its launch in 2002. He was responsible for the publication's editorial, circulation, operations, sales, marketing, and financial functions.
In his new position at the Times, O'Loughlin will report to Jeff Johnson, publisher, and David Murphy, executive vice president and general manager, marketing.
"John is an outstanding executive who balances an understanding of the fundamentals of the newspaper business with an ability to innovate and create new products and solutions that meet the needs of both readers and advertisers," Johnson said in a statement.
Before landing at RedEye, O'Loughlin was director, strategic marketing for the Chicago Tribune. He joined the paper in 1990 as a circulation management trainee.
