Register Publisher Rick Green Named to Post in Cincinnati

Rick Green, president and publisher of The Des Moines Register, will become president and publisher of the Cincinnati Enquirer. Gannett Co. Inc., parent company of the two news organizations, announced the move Wednesday.

Green has been publisher of the Register since August 2013, and before that was the Register's vice president and editor. His last day in Des Moines will be Feb. 27. Green will succeed Margaret Buchanan, who is retiring.

In his new role, Green will also serve as regional president of Gannett U.S. Community Publishing Ohio. Before joining the Register, Green served as executive editor at The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, California; reporter for the Chillicothe Gazette in Ohio; and reporter, photographer and sports columnist for the Coshocton Tribune in Ohio, where he started as a high school sophomore.

Green also served as an assistant managing editor, business editor, suburban bureau chief and reporter at the Enquirer.
