By: E&P Staff Nick Sloan had been a reporter on the Kansas City Kansan for about three years when the paper went to twice-daily publication, and then was folded as a print publication this January.
Now he's the sole owner of the newspaper's Web site, kansascitykansan.com.
Sloan, 24, told The Kansas City Star in an article by Dan Margolies that he bought the site from its parent GateHouse Media Inc. on Saturday. Terms were not disclosed.
"Right now it's just me," Sloan told the Star. "I have a few things lining up, but as of right now it's me and I'm looking to cover everything I can in Wyandotte County. I'm excited about it. I'm originally from Wyandotte County, so I have some idea of what readers will like."
Sloan said the site's biggest advertisers -- Happy Foods and Midwest Regional Credit Union -- have agreed to continue advertising.
His plans are to create an online community focused on Wyandotte County affairs with content generated by citizen journalists.
