By: The Rexburg Standard Journal in eastern Idaho has named Kristy Geisler the newspaper's new publisher.
Geisler will begin her new job January 4, becoming one of two female publishers in the Standard Journal's 122-year history.
Geisler, who is 50, has been working as the community affairs director for the city of Rexburg.
But she has worked for the newspaper in the past, first joining the Standard Journal in 1994 as advertising director.
She left in 1996 but returned in 1998 as associate publisher, and also worked as advertising director and special sections editor.
Geisler says she's honored to be the next publisher and that she sees many opportunities for the newspaper moving forward.
She replaces Tod Young, who resigned in November.
