'Richmond Times-Dispatch' Dropping, and Consolidating, Sections

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch will drop and consolidation sections beginning Monday May 12 in a week-long series of changes that will include eliminating some features.

Times-Dispatch Managing Editor Peggy Bellows, in a note to readers, said the Metro section will no longer be a free-standing section, but will be combined in an expanded A-section.

The paper is also eliminating its Flair lifestyle section on Mondays, replacing it with a Prime Living page in the A-section.

Comics and puzzles will become a spadia that wraps around the Sports section. Bellows said no comics or puzzles will be eliminated.

"Because of space limitations, the TV grid will no longer include the premium movie channels that appeared at the bottom, and we also will remove four digital-only channels from the listing: BBC America, the Biography Channel, the National Geographic Channel and Toon Disney," Bellows wrote. "We also are dropping the listing of talk shows and their guests."

The weather information feature will move to page A-2, and will no longer include temperatures and conditions from world cities, Bellows said.
