By: E&P Staff Rick Green, a metro reporter for The Hartford Courant, has been announced as the recipient of the 2006 Master Reporter Award by the New England Society of Newspaper Editors, reports the Courant.
The award honors Green's work at the paper since he began there in 1987. Since then, he has covered many issues including local politics, and done extensive investigative reporting on gambling and education. He now also writes a twice-weekly column for the Courant on state issues.
The Courant reports that the contest judges wrote that Green?s stories "always have human faces and, combined with great writing, quickly draw readers in."
The annual award was presented to Green Thursday at a luncheon in Boston.
