'Ride for Farley' Raises Money for Veterinary Care

Posted
By: E&P Staff A charity bike ride in Ontario this month raised about $15,000 for the Farley Foundation, which helps low-income seniors and disabled people pay for emergency veterinary care for their pets.

The foundation is named after the late sheepdog in the "For Better or For Worse" comic by Lynn Johnston of Universal Press Syndicate. Johnston developed original art that was used for the jerseys and bike shorts used by participants in the Sept. 14 "Ride for Farley," which lasted about 10 hours.

This summer, the foundation and the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association held a golf tournament that raised more than $15,000.

And FBOFW.com reported that October is "Fundraise for Farley" month, so the efforts of the foundation will continue.
