Lawrence McConnell, a veteran newspaper editor and publisher, was appointed Monday as executive editor of
The Roanoke Times. He succeeds Joe Stinnett, who announced his retirement effective at the end of July after guiding the newsroom in a yearlong leadership transition.
McConnell, 64, was named to lead the news and editorial departments by
Roanoke Times Publisher Terry Jamerson.
