Rob Curley Analyzes A Breaking News Story In Las Vegas

Posted
By: Pauline Millard As technology becomes easier to use there is more incentive for newspapers to try their hand at tools such as videos and reader generated photos, especially when news is breaking.

Web vet Rob Curley took a look at how the Las Vegas Sun covered the Monte Carlo casino fire last week. The paper created a blog that was constantly updated, and let readers submit photos onto a communal Flickr feed and eventually posted videos of the scene. All this came from a newsroom with only about 30-40 people in it. But it was a local story and clearly a casino burning in Vegas is always a big deal.

His blog, and links to the Las Vegas Sun's coverage, can be seen here.
