Roberts Named MediaSpan Media Software Executive Vice President

By: E&P Staff MediaSpan, Research Triangle Park, N.C., has appointed Dan Roberts as executive vice president of MediaSpan Media Software, which provides more than 2,900 newspaper customers with prepress software and content-management tools.

In his new role, Roberts is responsible for managing all aspects of the Media Software business unit at the company's Ann Arbor, Mich., and Melbourne, Fla., facilities.

Roberts, who helped orchestrate MediaSpan's purchase of Harris & Baseview in 2001, most recently was chief financial officer of the Media Software business unit and MediaSpan corporate controller/treasurer.

Before 2001, Roberts held senior management positions with Harris Publishing Systems and Harris Corp., including controller of international operations and controller of technical services. He previously worked for Ernst & Young in Orlando, Fla., serving various high-technology clients, and was corporate controller of Datamax Corp., maker of bar code printers.
