'Rocky' Name Ready to Rise Again?

Posted
By: E&P Staff E.W. Scripps has contacted potential buyers for the Rocky Mountain News name and other intellectual property of the Denver paper it shuttered last February, alternative newspaper Westword is reporting.

An article by Michael Roberts posted on the Westword Web site said among those contacted were the former journalists who tried unsuccessfully to launch a paid online news site and Texas businessman Brian Ferguson, who bid for the paper before Scripps folded it.

More details about the reported intellectual property offer are at E&P's business-oriented Fitz & Jen blog.

Correction: This story has been corrected to reflect that Ferguson made a formal bid for the Rocky Mountain News before it was folded by Scripps in February.
