By: Joe Strupp Renowned designer Roger Black, who has created and recreated the looks of numerous Web sites and publications (including E&P) is working with The Washington Post, according to Washington City Paper.
City Paper, the alternative weekly, reports the paper has contracted with Black to revamp its print edition and Web site, and that in recent weeks, he has been meeting with staffers to get their ideas on freshening the look of the Post brand.
The story adds, "In a Wednesday meeting with a group of newsroom leaders, Black pushed his audience to think expansively about what the paper needs and what it can eliminate. One attendee says Black will be focusing on how to fit the Post?s journalism in an ever-shrinking news hole, as well as coming up with 'strategies for helping stories pop off the page more.'"
Some 14 internal Post committees have been formed to offer input, the report notes. One recent change was to remove the modern washingtonpost.com logo from the Web site and replace it with the same flag used on Page One.
