By: E&P Staff For its greenfield printing plant at Nivelles, south of Brussels, Rossel Printing Co., printer of Le Soir and other Belgian newspapers, will install a triplewide (six pages across) KBA Commander press. And "for managing a plant as complex as ours," said RPC Director Jacques Valembois, the company chose ABB's systems MPS Cockpit and MPS PlateWorkflow.
MPS Cockpit supplies top-level management of the entire print production process, while MPS PlateWorkflow manages page production through generation of RIP data and control of the three platesetters. The project also calls for MPS RollTrack for reel logistics and MPS Insight for browser-based remote tracking and production analysis.
Calling integration "a very significant factor in this project," Wolfgang Felber, head of ABB's printing business unit, said, "We are integrating RPC's existing page planning systems together with our own systems to create continuous workflow throughout the whole production process" using ABB's Seamless Process Integration for Newspaper Enterprises (SPINE).
