By: Russ Flanagan, a veteran reporter for the Express-Times of Easton, was found dead inside his apartment early Wednesday. He was 33.
An editor went to Flanagan's apartment after he failed to report to work on Tuesday, and authorities forced open the door and found Flanagan's body.
Police and a deputy coroner who pronounced Flanagan dead said there were no signs of foul play, and no drugs or alcohol evident. An autopsy was planned for Wednesday.
Flanagan had covered courts and police for the newspaper since 2003 and helped write the newspaper's "Law and Order" blog. A native of Rockaway, N.J., he previously worked for The New Jersey Herald in Newton, N.J.
His last byline appeared Sunday on a package of stories about local fans of the New York Giants.
"He was the kind of guy , rock-solid reliable , that if he was working a shift, you knew anything that came along would be handled," Express-Times editor Joseph P. Owens said in a story posted on the paper's Web site. "He was a veteran newsman who understood how to get the job done."
