Ruth King Dies; Co-Owner of Holdrege Daily Citizen

By: A long time co-owner of the Holdrege Daily Citizen has died at age 90.

Ruth King died of pneumonia Friday in Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.

Her husband, Dwight King, preceded her in death.

Her son, Bob King, says she began her lifelong love of newspapers as a girl on the farm. He says she would read the newspaper before delivering lunch to her dad on the farm so she could tell him the day's news.

She grew up in Hamilton County and eventually attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, graduating with a teaching degree in 1939.

A funeral has been set for Wednesday in Holdrege.
