S. African Plant Adds Goss Community Four-Highs

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Rising Sun tabloid in Durban, South Africa, bought a Goss Community press. To be installed in July, its two four-high towers will be configured to run two webs.

Rising Sun now prints eight pages in full color at up to 14,000 copies per hour on a 35-year-old, five-unit Community, with labor-intensive manual collection. "The new press," said Rising Sun plant owner Vijay Maharaj, "is almost three times faster and offers us the latest labor-saving features." He added that the Community also will cut costs by reducing waste.

"The capacity that we gain will allow us to develop new business," Maharaj said, citing tabloid newspapers, quarter-fold newsletters, and other products.

Part of Rising Sun Community Newspaper Pty (Ltd), the plant prints several group newspapers, with a combined readership of 640,000, as well as brochures, business cards, newsletters, calendars, and other products.
