'Sac. Bee' Enhances Online Ad Submission

Posted
By: E&P Staff ComScript Publishing Inc. and AdPay Inc. will supply The Sacramento (Calif.) Bee with an integrated print and e-commerce solution that provides advertisers with an online marketplace for classifieds. It is considered a pilot project for McClatchy Co. newspapers.

With AdPay, the Bee's AdEZ customers have an online marketplace complete with the ability to add descriptive information, images and multimedia content, negotiate and complete transactions online, and send the marketplace ad content to print.

The e-commerce solution uses AdPay application services integrated with GDTNova's ConnexPipeline XML server for print and online ad processing. The Bee's call center, linked to the online ad process, can offer online upsells to print customers for the e-commerce site.

The AdPay e-commerce option is priced as an upsell for advertisers. Both the print and online ads are paid for by credit card, contract rate, or purchase order during ad submission. ConnexPipeline passes advertising content to the print publishing system for live costing, H&J and print and online previews.

Marketed under the GDT-Nova brand, ComScript Publishing provides AdEZ, AdEZLite and EZAgent private-party and commercial ad-entry solutions for creating, costing and previewing in-column and semi-display ads in real time from an advertiser's home or office, with a connection to the publishing system via XML server and real-time portal agents. Able to function with most major classified systems, AdEZ also is installed at dailies in Washington, D.C.; Chicago; Orlando, Fla.; San Diego; Tampa, Fla.; Olympia, Wash.; and Raleigh N.C., among others.

AdPay adds e-commerce capabilities to a newspaper's online classifieds by enabling sellers to enhance online ads. It also provides a range of e-commerce choices for sellers, ranging from fixed-price selling to online negotiations and auctions. AdPay also has solutions for online payment, as well as shipping and delivery through a partnership with Navis Logistics Solutions.
