By: E&P Staff The Salisbury (N.C.) Post is adding an Agfa Advantage X violet platesetter to the Advantage DL platesetter it installed last year, as well as Arkitex workflow to handle added workload in its growing market. The Post uses Agfa's violet-sensitive photopolymer N91v plates.
"We're starting to get a lot busier and new industry is coming into town," Prepress Manager Sharon Jackson said in a statement. Citing "confidence of 24/7 productivity," she said the imagers enable quick production of quality work, with easy training.
The semi-automatic Advantage X complements the fully automatic Advantage DL for cost-effective backup without forfeiting consistent quality and repeatability.
The Post also will add Agfa IntelliTune software for efficient enhancement of the newspaper's images. IntelliTune uses Multi-Dimensional Processing to analyze tone, color and spatial characteristics of each image and automatically apply needed corrections for the best printing.
The 22,023-circulation daily, owned by Evening Post Publishing Co. of Charleston, S.C., was the second of four company properties to convert to computer-to-plate output in recent years.
