By: E&P Staff At a wrenching congressional hearing on Tuesday, Jessica Lynch, and the brother and mother of Pat Tillman, all denounced the military's role in spreading untruths about the infamous incidents surrounding Lynch in Iraq and Tillman in Afghanistan.

Lynch said she was still "confused" about why "lies" were told and why the military turned her into a "Rambo" figure and a "legend" in the media in 2003. But why did the press, at first, swallow the military's story whole?
