'San Angelo Standard-Times' President, Publisher Resigns

By: Rebekah "Becky" Brackin has announced her resignation as president and publisher of the San Angelo (Texas) Standard-Times and gosanangelo.com, effective Oct. 19. She is taking a new position as the director of community relations at Angelo State University.

Brackin joined the paper in 2000. Prior to replacing Robert Aguilar as publisher on Jan. 1 this year, she served as general manager.

A San Angelo native, Brackin led the Standard-Times? efforts to establish its Web site as the top source of local news in the area. During her time as publisher, gosanangelo.com doubled its number of page views to about 2 million per month and increased its online advertising.

?You all have been my mentors and family in these nine years, and I am forever grateful for all I have learned from you,? Brackin said in a statement. ?I am sad to leave you and this company. I am extremely proud of both. But I feel this move is important to my family and me.?
