'San Antonio Express-News' Outsources Ad Production Work

By: Jennifer Saba The San Antonio Express-News is outsourcing a majority of its advertising production work to Affinity Express, the Elgin, Ill.-based company announced today.

The amount of jobs affected by the move was not disclosed.

Express-News President and Publisher Tom Stephenson said in a statement: "We believe that streamlining process, expanding our capacity in ad production and offering more services to help advertisers reach their target audiences will enable the San Antonio Express-News to transform our operations and strengthen our company.

"Our industry is experiencing a period of disruptive change that requires us to reduce costs through this time of transition and position ourselves for growth in the coming years."

Affinity Express maintains offices in India and the Philippines, where the majority of the ad production work is completed. The Express-News has implemented Affinity?s Web-based Service Bureau, which takes advertising orders, tracks the ads, and sends back proofs.

Affinity has partnerships in place with other newspapers such as The Columbus Dispatch in Ohio and the Sun-Times Media Group, which is saving $3 million annually in costs.
