By: E&P Staff Platinum Equity, the new owners of the San Diego Union-Tribune, are letting the community know the paper is "here to stay" with a new marketing campaign.

TV spots began airing on Sept. 8 in addition to print, outdoor and online advertising that will run until the first part of October.

"These opportunities will enable us to emphasize to our readers and advertisers that we are here to stay," Ed Moss, president and publisher of the Union-Tribune, said in a statement.

Moss alluded to "new partnerships" with other media companies as well as product launches.

In August, executives with Platinum Equity told staffers of the Union-Tribune the paper was on track to make a profit of $5 million this year, after several rounds of layoffs.
