By: E&P Staff Citing "economic necessities," the San Francisco Chronicle is cutting its Sunday comics section from six to four pages starting this weekend.
Executive "Datebook" Editor David Wiegand today called it a "difficult choice."
Comics being dropped -- after input from a summer reader poll that drew nearly 13,000 responses -- include "Mister Boffo," "The Fusco Brothers," "Brevity," "Sherman's Lagoon," and the Tokyopop manga strip.
Also, "Dilbert" is being moved to the Sunday business section, and "Candorville" is being added to the Sunday comics.
The Chronicle comics news was mentioned today on
Alan Gardner's Daily Cartoonist blog.
