Serving western Nebraska and Iowa, the Omaha World-Herald is implementing the Directory Publishing Center, part of the Online Ad Solutions from Tampa-based Saxotech (www.saxotech.com).
The turn-key solution with search functionality designed to enhance the end-user experience is supported on a hosted and managed platform, enabling the World-Herald to configure a range of directories, guides and index products and offer a unique section front for category-specific options -- coupons, sequenced list views with enhanced listings and a portfolio page of merchants' or service providers' information.
"We are looking for the Directory Publishing Center to greatly expand the services that we offer our advertising customers," said World-Herald Vice President of Content Larry King said in a statement. "We will be able to provide our online and mobile users with news content and advertising that is related and relevant."
With the Directory Publishing Center, the World-Herald can bring together its local editorial content and listing services, with relevance technology helping guide consumers to interesting related content. Online viewers also can be served links to business listings relevant to a given story.
Furthermore, listings created utilizing the Directory Publishing Center mirror the World-Herald's retail target zones to support hyper-local searches. Consumers may expand searches by radius, specific towns, categories or points of interest. The ability to refer back and forth between Website editorial content and the directory service can boost traffic and maximize local revenue opportunities, according to Saxotech.
