Schroeder Spotlighted in 'Peanuts' Exhibit

Posted
By: E&P Staff An exhibit of 66 "Peanuts" comics featuring the Schroeder character opened Wednesday at the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Themes of the show, which runs through Jan. 9, include Schroeder's love of Beethoven and indifference to Lucy. The piano-playing character -- named after a boy Schulz caddied with at a St. Paul, Minn., golf course -- made his first "Peanuts" appearance in 1951, less than a year after the comic began.

The exhibit's guest curator is "Pearls Before Swine" cartoonist Stephan Pastis of United Media, which also syndicates "Peanuts" reruns.
