Schulz Biography Makes A Top-10 List in 'New York Times'

By: E&P Staff "Schulz and Peanuts," the controversial biography by David Michaelis, made a top-10-books-of-2007 list in today's New York Times.

Times critic Michiko Kakutani said the "revealing and sympathetic new biography ... highlights the autobiographical sources of the cartoonist's art: how Charles M. Schulz gave his own wishy-washiness and determination to Charlie Brown, his sarcasm and anger to Lucy, his dignity and 'weird little thoughts' to Linus, and his frustrations and daydreams to Snoopy."

The October-published "Schulz and Peanuts" has been criticized by Schulz family members and others for being too negative. But a number of critics gave it positive reviews.

"Peanuts" reruns by Schulz (1922-2000) continue to be syndicated by United Media.
