By: E&P Staff Scotsman Press of New York has purchased Fulton Newspapers from Vincent Caravan and his son Ronald for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition includes The Valley News in Fulton, N.Y., The Valley News Advertiser and The Fulton Patriot.
"For various personal reasons, the timing was right for us to retire from the responsibilities of publishing community papers," Ronald Caravan said in a statement. "We have enjoyed a long and positive relationship with the Scotsman and are confident they will sustain the tradition of the Valley News as the greater Fulton area's primary community-news source."
Scotsman Press is a commercial printer that is also one of the area's largest publishers of newspapers and shoppers. The Scotsman Press has printed Fulton Newspapers almost continually since 1967.
"We have great respect and admiration for the Caravans and the Fulton Newspaper organization," Scotsman Publisher Loren Coburn said in a statement. "Personally, I have always felt the Valley News was among the best community newspapers in the state."
Cribb, Greene & Associates represented the Fulton Newspapers in the transaction.
