Mediaweek) HomePortfolio.com, a Newton, Mass.-based market for home
design products, has attracted $48 million in a third round of
financing led by E.W. Scripps Co.'s Home & Garden Television (HGTV)
and joined by Cond?Net, Meredith Corp., and Excite@Home.
Besides media companies, other investors included Oak Investment
Partners (which led a $20 million second round last spring), Scripps
Ventures, (which led the first round in 1998), Brand Equity Ventures,
CMH Capital, Advent International, Camelot Capital and Bob Lessin,
chairman of Wit Capital and an early HomePortfolio investor.
The financing brings HomePortfolio's total capital raised to more than
$70 million.
'Cond?Net sees HomePortfolio as an integral part of our own strategy
in the home sector,' said Advance.net chairman Steve Newhouse, who
noted that Cond?Net president Sarah Chubb has been named to
HomePortfolio's board of directors. 'We look forward to working with
them.'
