SCRIPPS, MEDIANEWS NAME TOP EXECS FOR DENVER JOA

The Denver Newspaper Agency (DNA), a creation of the new E.W. Scripps
Co./MediaNews Group Inc. joint operating agreement (JOA), has filled
the top two positions, effective July 17.


Kirk MacDonald, vice president for Hearst Newspapers, has been named
president and CEO. MacDonald was formerly executive vice president and
general manager of The Denver Post.


Jeff Hively, vice president of newspaper operations for Scripps, has
been named executive vice president and COO of DNA. Hively will oversee
the day-to-day operations of the agency.


Scripps, owner of the Denver Rocky Mountain News, and MediaNews
Group, parent company of the Post, announced a JOA on May 11.
The companies are still seeking approval of the agreement from the
Justice Department.
