By: (AP) A former vice president of marketing and new media for the
Rocky Mountain News in Denver is the new marketing director for E.W. Scripps Co.'s newspaper division.
Linda Sease will be responsible for directing marketing activities within the Cincinnati-based Scripps' newspaper division, Scripps officials said Wednesday. Her duties will include strategic planning, market research, brand and product management, advertising and promotion, and new product development.
"Her proven skill as a newspaper marketing executive, we believe, will help us improve the marketing capabilities of all of our daily and community newspapers," said Stephen W. Sullivan, vice president for newspaper operations for Scripps.
Sease was marketing chief for the Scripps-owned
Rocky Mountain News from 1995 until the business operations of that newspaper and
The Denver Post, owned by MediaNews Group, were merged in January 2001.
After leaving the
Rocky Mountain News, she worked as director of new business for Clear Channel Communications in Denver and also operated her own interior design company.
Scripps is a media operation with interests in newspaper publishing, broadcast television, national television networks, and interactive media.
The company operates 21 daily newspapers, 10 broadcast television stations, cable channels, Scripps Howard News Service, 31 Web sites, and United Media, which syndicates and licenses the "Peanuts" and "Dilbert" comic strips.
