Scripps Story Focuses On Vote-Count Problems

By: E&P Staff Scripps Howard News Service today is offering a vote-counting story that's the latest in a year-long investigative series spearheaded by Thomas Hargrove.

The article -- by Hargrove and Michael Collins -- notes that when Americans go to the polls to pick a president this Tuesday, it's highly likely that many thousands of their votes will be counted incorrectly or not at all.

SHNS Managing Editor Karen Timmons said that, as a result of the series, "Eleven states that have never before looked at the difference between ballots cast and votes counted will do so for the first time in November."

The series will continue after the closely contested election.
