Scripps Up Slightly in Oct.

Posted
By: E&P Staff E.W. Scripps reported that total revenue in October for the newspaper division was up 1.4% to $64.1 million compared with the same period a year ago. Year-over-year revenue growth was negatively affected by Hurricane Wilma, which caused a loss of business in two of the company's Florida newspapers.

Newspaper ad revenue for the month grew 2.6%. Local was down 1% to $14.4 million. Classified was up 2.7% to $19.8 million. National was down 0.2% to $3.9 million. Preprint and other increased 7.4% to $13.3 million.

Circulation revenue for the month declined 3.6% to $11.1 million.

At Scripps Networks, total revenue advanced 30% to $84.3 million. Shop At Home revenue rose 3.3% to $25.1 million. At the company's broadcast TV stations, revenue declined 28% to $30.7 million. The decrease reflects the absence of political advertising that occurred last year.

The company is not reporting monthly revenue for its online shopping comparison subsidiary Shopzilla for competitive reasons.
