SCS Sells Oil City, Pa., 'Derrick' Scoop Editorial System

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Derrick Publishing Co., Oil City, Pa., has purchased the Scoop editorial system from Software Consulting Services LLC, Nazareth, Pa.

The company, which publishes a 31,691-circulation regional daily, The Derrick, and semi-weeklies for western Pennsylvania, already was an SCS customer, using SCS AdMAX for retail and classified advertising, SCS/ClassPag for classified pagination, and SCS Layout-8000 for display ad dummying.

The Derrick will replace its homegrown editorial system with a 16-seat
Scoop system consisting of Scoop Edit for reporting, editing and copy flow and Scoop's content manager for automated file management. The purchase includes a QuickWire system for handling wire copy.

Developed by Sweden's Scoop Publishware AB, and distributed in North America by SCS, the system features modular, scalable tools for reporting, file management, edition and page tracking, online editions, library management and other editorial needs.

Publishers may choose InDesign or QuarkXPress for news pagination.
