SCS Unveils Ad Software Suite and Latest for Layout-8000

By: E&P Staff Software Consulting Services LLC, Nazareth, Pa., is introducing the AdBoss Suite to improve ad sales opportunities before and during layout. AdBoss is designed to ?make small improvements in big numbers,? says SCS President Richard Cichelli.

ColorAdBoss enables color availability to be anticipated and utilized during sales by allowing ad reps and layout staff to check press impositions. Calling the software unique, Cichelli explains that it permits ad staff to ask, ?where do I have color available that I haven?t yet sold, and what are the alternatives?? -- which enables the paper to maximize color ad space and revenues. ColorAdBoss will go into production in the Star-Ledger , Neark, N.J., early next month.

In use at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Fort Lauderdale, ReserveAdBoss communicates between an order-entry system and Layout-8000 to manage premium position availability, allowing newspapers to sell guaranteed positions at premium rates. StandbyAdBoss secures revenue from remnant space. If remnant space is available when dummying an edition, StandbyAdBoss allows selection and scheduling of last-minute ads from a standing inventory.

AdReason is SCS's new tool for advertising data warehousing, business intelligence and online analytic processing. It enables staffers to, drill-down and mine, chart and summarize raw transaction nto focused, quantitative information, providing real-time performance metrics to help assess previous months and years and plan for the future. The software recently went into production at Panorama, a 190,000-circulation daily in Maracaibo, Venezuela

Community Advertising Services is a comprehensive service-oriented architecture for advertising that supports both existing processes and online self-service. Community Advertising Services/Community Classified Services is a Rich Internet Architecture aplication for self-service classifieds, allowing customers to order ads and manage approvals and accounts. CAS is fully integrated with SCS's AdMAX order-entry, billing and AR system.

In its version 11, SCS's Layout-8000 now features graphical user interface improvements, new report presentations, flexible data extractions, XML interfaces and color page dummies, as well as optional modules for space reservations and standby-ad support. Version 11 is in beta use at The Morning Call, Allentown, Pa.; The Express-Times, Easton, Pa.; and New Jersey Newspapers.
