By: E&P Staff Another group of visitors apparently interested in bidding on the Aberdeen American News toured its headquarters, the South Dakota paper reported Thursday.
According to a story by reporter Emily Arthur, three men "believed to be interested in buying the American News and a broker" toured the building Wednesday afternoon.
As in two past occasions in which mystery visitors toured the facilities, the men would not identify themselves. The tour was led by Publisher Jerome Ferson, who, as before, would not comment on their identities, citing a need to keep the sale proceedings confidential.
The American News is one of the so-called "Deserted Dozen" Knight Ridder papers that are being purchased and immediately put up for sale by The McClatchy Co.
In the case of the American News, the only party that has expressed an open interest in buying the paper is Forum Communications, publisher of the Fargo (N.D.) Forum.
