By: E&P Staff Ryan Blethen has been named associate publisher of The Seattle Times.
Blethen, 35, most recently served as associate editorial page editor and a columnist. He has worked as a reporter or editor at newspapers in Yakima and Spokane, Washington, and Portland, Maine.
In his new role, Blethen wil oversee the company?s Washington Affiliate Newspapers, which include the newspapers and Web sites for the Yakima (Wash.) Herald-Republic, the Walla Walla (Wash.) Union-Bulletin and The Issaquah (Wash.) Press.
In addition, Blethen joins the company?s Strategic Operating Council. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Yakima Herald-Republic and the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin. He has also served for the past year on a strategic team advising the Publisher of The Seattle Times.

Ryan Blethen is a member of the National Conference of Editorial Writers and the International Press Institute North American Committee?s board.
