By: E&P Staff East Bay residents wanting a dose of daily news from San Francisco don't have to cross the water anymore. Today, the San Francisco Examiner announced it has started distributing papers at select East Bay BART stations.
"This is the first step in our expansion of the newspaper," said Scott McKibben, president and publisher of the Examiner, in a statement. "Many people that live in the East Bay and work in San Francisco associate and identify themselves with the city."
The free paper, which claims a current circulation of 76,000, is giving away copies in stations in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
In February, the Denver-based Anschutz Investment Co. purchased the paper from the Fang family.
