By: E&P Staff Dixon, Ill.-based Shaw Newspapers has bought Clarke County Publishing, publisher of a weekly and shopper in southern Iowa, from Sally Morlan and the estate of Frank Morlan.
Clarke publishes the 4,000-paid circulation Osceola Sentinel-Tribune, and the Advertiser, a 16,000-free distribution shopper.
Rich Paulsen, publisher of the Shaw-owned Creston News Advertiser, was named publisher for the papers in both Osceola and Creston.
"The purchase of Clarke County Publishing added with the Creston Publishing Company will give the Shaw Newspaper Group a larger footprint in Central and Southwest Iowa," Paulsen said.
Shaw publishes more than 40 community newspapers in Iowa and Illinois.
