Shepperd to Retire from Conn. Paper After 30 Years

By: E&P Staff Wayne J. Shepperd announced he will retire July 1 as publisher of The News-Times in Danbury, Conn., after 30 years at the paper.

"This community has been enormously supportive to me in a while host of ways," Shepperd told the staff, according to the AP. "I am indebted to so, so many of you.

Shepperd, who became publisher in 1993, started at the paper as a sports reporter in 1972.

"Shep has devoted his professional life to the News-Times," John N. Wilcox, president and COO of parent company Ottaway Newspapers Inc., said. "We thank him for those efforts and we wish him well in his retirement."
