By: Argus Leader Media in Sioux Falls has announced that it will eliminate 18 full-time jobs.
About half of the positions are already vacant, according to President and Publisher Randell Beck.
Four of the affected employees accepted a voluntary buyout packages. Four of the job cuts come from the company's news department.
The layoffs come as Gannett Co., which owns Argus Leader Media, seeks to cut expenses at its newspapers across the country.
Among Argus Leader reporters to lose his job is the well-known Terry Woster, who has been a journalist for four decades and lives in Pierre.
