By: E&P Staff Six Boston public high school students have been awarded a total of $16,000 in scholarships from the Teens in Print Newspaper Scholarship Program (T.i.P.).
The program, founded last year by the Boston Globe Foundation, supports members of T.i.P. who have decided to pursue higher education in media, communications, journalism, or English after graduating from high school. Other requirements for eligibility are that the T.i.P. member be a graduate from a Boston public high school with a good academic record, and be an active member of a T.i.P. newspaper for more than two years.
This year?s recipients of the Teens in Print Newspaper Scholarship Program award are:
* Martine Romulus, a graduate of Boston Community Leadership Academy, who will be attending the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
* Wesley Jean Baptiste, a graduate of Odyssey High School, who will be attending Massasoit Community College.
* Samantha Mbawuiki, a graduate of Boston Community Leadership Academy, who will be attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
* Ariana Diggs, a graduate of Boston Community Leadership Academy, who will be attending Suffolk University.
* Phil Donahue, a graduate of Odyssey High School, who will be attending The University of Massachusetts Amherst.
* Leona Alston, a graduate of Boston Community Leadership Academy, will be attending Mount Ida College.
