At The Sacramento Bee, it’s time for round six — and this time, its sports editor has found himself looking for work.

The Bee announced Friday it is eliminating 29 more jobs company-wide through layoffs or buyouts, citing continued decreases in advertising revenue. Among the five newsroom employees lost is Bill Bradley, a 26-year journalist and head of the Bee’s sports department.

Bradley joined the newsroom nearly six years ago from The Tennessean, where he served as sports editor between 1999 and 2005.

The other 28 employees, among them two photographers, an artist and a newsroom assistant, will continue working through Oct. 15. The majority of the cuts this round — 16 — are in circulation and production.

The Bee has eliminated hundreds of jobs over five rounds of staff cuts in the past 2.5 years.
